KYOEI To-Gi 605 MB Irons 4-PW – Black Mirror Chrome – Sharp Toe / Triple Cut Sole

$2,400.00

Raw forging to finished club, by hand, by one grinder in Japan. Every head one of one, finished by eye and by feel.

A forging arrives thick, heavy and approximate. What it becomes depends entirely on what a person removes, and on knowing when to stop.

TOGI 研ぎ is the Japanese word for that work: sharpening, grinding, polishing by hand.

Hand ground in Japan. One of one.

TO-GI is a KYOEI head taken from raw forging to finished club by hand, by one grinder in Japan. Not a machine finish with a hand check at the end. The sole, the leading edge, the relief and the neck are all shaped by eye and by feel, one head at a time.

Because the work is done by hand, no two heads come off the wheel the same.

THIS SET

Model: 605 MB TO-GI, #4 to PW, 7 pieces. The adjustable weight muscle back. The compact TO-GI footprint, shorter from heel to toe with a thinner topline and narrower sole than the 705, and a weight port that tunes the head without changing the shape.

Finish: Black Mirror Chrome, sticky. A deep reflective black taken to a full mirror, so the surface reads wet rather than polished dry. It holds depth instead of throwing light back at you, and the reflection is dark enough that the head shows its own shape rather than the sky. Every curve the grinder cut is legible in the reflection, which is the point of putting a mirror over hand work.

Face shape: Sharp Toe. Carried up and squared off to a defined corner instead of rolled away. Shorter heel to toe at address, tighter behind the ball, with the topline finishing on a line. Mass high in the toe sits further from the shaft axis, keeping the face settled through impact and lifting the centre of gravity slightly toward the upper toe. Flatter flight bias, firmer and higher pitched toward the toe.

Sole grind: Triple Cut. Leading edge killed, trailing edge killed, a narrow central band left between them carrying all the ground contact. Very little turf resistance entering or leaving, so the head feels fast and unsupported in the best sense. Without a wide flat area to push back on a steep delivery, this grind is built for a shallower strike and firmer ground.

Leading edge: Killed as part of the triple cut. Taken right back and blended flat for clean entry off a tight lie.

Relief: Heel and toe relief opened through the scoring irons, worked in behind the profile so the sharp toe line stays exactly as it reads at address.

Neck: Blended into the topline until the transition disappears. One unbroken line from hosel to toe.

Notes on this set: A black mirror is the least forgiving finish to put on a hand ground head, because a polished reflective surface shows every high and low in the metal. That is the reason to choose it. Sharp toe and triple cut sole underneath make this the hardest specification in the 605 line, and the mirror black is what makes the shaping visible. At address the dark head frames the ball with a lot of contrast and almost no glare off the top line.
