KYOEI To-Gi 605 MB Irons 4-PW – GunMetal Gray – Standard Toe / Semi V Sole
$2,400.00
Raw forging to finished club, by hand, by one grinder in Japan. Every head one of one, finished by eye and by feel.
A forging arrives thick, heavy and approximate. What it becomes depends entirely on what a person removes, and on knowing when to stop.
TOGI 研ぎ is the Japanese word for that work: sharpening, grinding, polishing by hand.
Hand ground in Japan. One of one.
TO-GI is a KYOEI head taken from raw forging to finished club by hand, by one grinder in Japan. Not a machine finish with a hand check at the end. The sole, the leading edge, the relief and the neck are all shaped by eye and by feel, one head at a time.
Because the work is done by hand, no two heads come off the wheel the same.
Available Spec: Heads Only – #4-PW – GunMetal Gray

THIS SET
Model: 605 MB TO-GI, #4 to PW, 7 pieces. The adjustable weight muscle back, compact through the blade, topline and sole, with a weight port that tunes the head without changing the shape.
Finish: GunMetal Gray. A mid dark grey with a warm metallic cast to it, held at a low sheen rather than a mirror or a flat. It sits between the black finishes and the satins in tone, dark enough to take the brightness off the topline but still reading as metal rather than as a coating. The warmth is what separates it from the cooler grey mist, and it catches just enough light along the muscle to show the shape.
Face shape: Standard Toe. A full, rounded toe finishing in one continuous radius rather than on a corner. The head reads a touch longer and fuller at address with more profile to aim against, and mass distributed evenly rather than carried high in the toe. The centre of gravity stays nearer the middle of the face and the feel is even across the hitting area.
Sole grind: Semi V. A soft V down the centre of the sole that runs out hard just past the middle, leaving the front half narrowing toward the leading edge and the trailing half full. The head enters on a line instead of a flat plate, so it cuts into turf rather than bouncing. With the taper sitting forward of centre, the effective riding surface is set back, keeping the leading edge clear of the ground on a steeper delivery.
Leading edge: Rolled into the front of the V and blended. It sits just off the ground at address, and opening the face rolls the V onto its heel side so the edge drops and the head still sits down on a tight lie.
Relief: Heel and toe relief through the scoring irons, enough freedom to open the face around the green with the trailing half of the sole left full.
Neck: Blended into the topline until the transition disappears. One continuous line at address.
Notes on this set: The most neutral specification in the 605 line and the easiest one to recommend without knowing the player. Standard toe and Semi V sole handle a wide range of turf and delivery, and the gunmetal is the middle ground of the finishes, dark enough to be calm at address without the commitment of a mirror black or the starkness of a white mist. If a player wants the small muscle back footprint and nothing else about the club fighting them, this is the set.
